How does a wind turbine work? what are some advantages of wind energy?( need 10 advantages)?

advantages and disadvantages of wind energy

Um…….. Also i don’t need disadvantages and history so please don’t just paste something from a site cause I really need this for robotics so don’t want to spend too much time on reading. Thanks!

Free wind turns the will paddles that will turn the generator to make the electricity.

The wind turns a propeller, the propeller is connected to a generator by gears. The generator generates electricity.

    There is no exhaust pollution.

    Low carbon footprint.

    Very little ozone.

The energy source won’t run out.

Very low personnel cost (nearly zero).

If placed high enough, the ground below the turbine can be used for other things, like agriculture.

Conversely, they can be set up on land that is useless for anything else.

Can be placed very near the end users, so transmission losses are reduced.

Unlike solar, they can generate 24/7.

    Virtually hazard free.

    ADVANTAGES:
    non polluting.
    renewable.
    does not require fuel.
    easy to maintain.
    no greenhouse gasses.
    its quiet.
    harmless.
    takes up little space.

    DISADVANTAGES:
    expensive.
some areas dont have alot of wind.

    HOW DOES IT WORK?

a rotor that aerodynamically converts the wind energy into mechanical energy on a slowly turning shaft
a gearbox that increases the rotor-shaft speed for the generator. Some specially designed generators run at rotor-shaft speed and do not need a gearbox.
    a generator that produces electricity
a control and protection system that optimizes performance and keeps the machinery operating within safe limits
a tower that raises the rotor high off the ground where the wind speed is greater and the effects of local obstructions are less
a foundation that supports the wind turbine system, sometimes with the aid of guy wires

Major components of horizontal and vertical axiz wind turbines

Wind turbine generators produce a range of electricity. Rotors that have diameters of about 1m produce a few hundred watts of electricity. Rotors that have diameters that approach 75m can produce over one megawatt.

Wind pushes the turbine or prop, makes it turn…

generator turns then and makes electricity flow….

    1. doesn’t need fuel….so cost effective….
2.location…..can be set up in an area that doesn’t have hydro power or a power plant of any sort….

( 10 huh, tell teach he/she sucks.. home work sucks…)

    3. doesn’t pollute
    4. can be large or small ( we have large feilds full of them for the state out here, and people with small ones on thier roofs for just their homes
5.uses less material to build and run than a hydro turbine or diesel engine
    6. labor…less people to build it, lesss people to run it, less people to service it !

( man I’m good ….I should be charging for this…)
7.doesn’t use up oil water or gas supplies ( this is aside from the cost savings factor in item# 1. )
8.Environmental impact, looks and smells nicer and is quieter than a big ugly noisy smelly industrial complex.
9.infrustructeral impact….aside from item # 6 of less labor there is the fact of less trucks needed to build and service these , thats less trucks on the highway and less vehicles from workers and support materials etc.. Think of all the lives saved from less accidents and better traffic if people and supplies don’t have to travel all around to support them like they do for industrial complexes needed otherwise !
    10. OK, now I’m sure you can go and find just one more thing… I mean come on …. look I did the whole darn thing for ya ! Good luck looking up # 10 !
