I was in Palm …
I was in Palm Springs recently and north of town are thousands of wind mills, giants that power hundreds of homes…each. Not a single windmill looked like a Cheeto on a pole. Hmm, I wonder why. Maybe GE, Siemens, and dozens of other manufacturers know something.
it could probably …
it could probably be changed to use rain power
good work!
good work!
And it can be made …
And it can be made to do it the other vay in the raein… or rein wind ooo just poke holes with heanglwe change so YES!!….
Hmm i want these in Finland.
All farmers build beautiful greencamo 20 meter spiral trees in the midle of farms.. Heck why not trough visible top to widen down to trees.
This is Beautifull!!
I was raised in a …
I was raised in a small town of 1000 in rural Nebraska. Being the high plains with abundant wind, wind mills were used to produce electricity prior to the advent of utility distribution. Now they only use them to pump water for cows and many ranchers now use solar to do the same to save on maintenance. I sure wish more ranchers would realize they have free and abundant energy right in thier backyards and put it to use.

By 2030, 20 percent of all electricity in the United States will be generated from wind energy. According to the Department of Energy, 40% of all energy used in the U.S. be it oil, gas, wind, solar etc is converted into electricity. United States has enormous potential to harness wind power and companies like Pacific Crest Transformers are helping the nation progress in its efforts to build a clean energy economy. On 0:47 I firmly …
On 0:47 I firmly believe that this wind turbine is safe because I can hear birds safely chirping in the background. Had this been a bird guillotine revolving without mercy I don’t think I would have heard these birds safely chirping in the background.
Do you feel the same way?
One clear advantage …
One clear advantage of the helix I can see as an electrician is the safety factor for workmen and birds. Having worked in a few wind farms one thing struck me odd was the piles of dead birds at the foot of regular turbines getting hit by the propellar like blades. The helix would not have this obvious problem . Great video!

San Diego, CA Oct. …
San Diego, CA Oct. 6, 2009 Helix Wind Corp. (OTCBB – HLXW) reported today that in an independent field test, its model S594 small wind turbine installed since March at a test site owned by PFG Green Energy is producing energy output within 90% of the companys predicted performance. PFG Green is a Helix distributor near Cedar Falls, IA.
How bout instead of …
How bout instead of giving the money to the banks (bailouts) we use that money to pay for each house to have a helix, then we can still watch the banks collapse on our wind powered china made plasma TVs.
A tiny % of energy …
A tiny % of energy today comes from Cleantech, quadruple even octuple their share of the market equates to billions and billions of revenues and tens of thousands of jobs. from 2% of total US energy to 10%. Nothing is static. Everything evolves. I for one do not want to see our great country watch the rest of the world accept the fact of changing and evolving technologies and enjoy the benefits of new and lasting manufacturing jobs for the sake of some oil and coal lobbyists

It has bad press …
It has bad press because of the nuclear waste involved, and the lack of any fundamental disposal platform to deal with that waste.
ok this looks cool …
ok this looks cool but ig you blew it up to the size needed to generate they amount of voltage that the traditional wind turbines generate, will it still work? Also what would be its decibel of noise generation, even the smallest moving part makes noise.
that said if you cold make them affordable to the average American and make implementing them simple and easy to do, there could be a market, has a funky lawn ornament, but that is it.
I worked on some of …
I worked on some of the more traditional wind power turbines as an electrician, and I can tell you at great length how unsafe they are to work in. If this new spin on the wind turbine is truly capable of producing similar amounts of power, sign me up to climb and wire! Any time, anywhere!
What a fantastic …
What a fantastic gizmo! Beautiful, efficient, bird-safe, silent, ethical. Kudos! It’s got them all!
If I had to change one tiny thing, it might be to paint the black pole in the center with either a “barber pole” design in two complimentary colors, or just plain white – if possible, of course.
What a gem of an invention. I hope you make a million dollars. You really deserve it.
Would smooth …
Would smooth panels add a greater benifit on the forward face for less drag And in the attempts to keep the surface area on the wind collection side by adhering individual thiner ruffled ridges. over all it will be heavier but with less forward drag.
Just wondering since im sick today and very bored.
i have become …
i have become interested in buying one of these units. i was just quoted on a price of 7500 american for the 2500 watt helix model. with inverter. i live in one of the windiest places in north america. 1 of the 3 windiest in canada. we receive winds of 160+ kilometers an hour once a month or more on average. gusts can be as high as 220km/h. i’m still wondering if this unit will hold up to that.
Interesting and …
Interesting and important point. Presumably it is possible to engineer it so that it disengages from the gear in winds speeds that could damage the assembly. Minimum wind speed is a key obstacle in designing efficiency into wind turbines.
Don’t try and sell …
Don’t try and sell this to “Homes and small businesses” Try and catch federal state, or district eyes! If this turbine can capture wind effectively in the close knit urban environment, it could certainly reduce a cities need for non-clean power, perhaps even rid it all together! (although that could be pushing it.)
