Is becoming energy efficient a reality?

There are many people who believe we have the technology for becoming energy efficient now. Many methods of creating electricity are available.

Is information being with held? Is this technology the government doesn’t want us to know. What does becoming energy efficient mean in terms of control. How are the energy companies controlling the people? Watch the free videos on this site http://WiseEnergy.US

If we use the technology that is available to us, we can become independent. Is “Drill Baby Drill” the plan the government wants us to use.  Is it possible to have a plan to produce electricity that doesn’t involve the sun or wind. Should we be using other methods that have been around for a long time.

We have all heard about people in dangerous situations when they have learned too much. Is that what is holding this technology from the people. Is it possible to use magnetic energy to produce enough electricity for your home.

I believe it is indeed possible and is being using by over 50,000 people as you read this. Not only can it be used everyday, when others are without power , this energy would continue.

The environment is very important to our survival. We need to protect our world for future generations. It is our responsiblity to provide different methods of becoming energy efficient to every interested individual.

We can have a safe, clean and none polluting form of electricity. It is available today and we want everyone to be aware of this technology. It is not new, but use this knowledge today and start becoming energy efficient immediately.

If protecting the environment and having cheap safe electric is important to you, go to this site: http://WiseEnergy.US

Keeping Your Home Energy Efficient

GREENOCK, UNITED KINGDOM - NOVEMBER 18: In th...
Image by Getty Images via @daylife

Today it’s getting harder and harder to hold onto even a dollar. People are doing everything that they can in order to make ends meet. But don’t worry, since even minor changes can ensure that your dollar goes further than before. Such alterations include making sure that your house is as energy efficient as possible. Many people are amazed by how even easy changes around your home can cut your energy use, and so save you a lot of money when it is time to pay your energy bill.

The first hint is the simplest one – turn off every light in a room when you leave it. Especially for the person who pays the energy bills, lights not switched off in a room that is not being used can be very frustarting. Whether you are watching the television, using the fan, or listening to the radio ensure that you switch off all electronic devices before you exit the room.

Secondly, buying energy-efficient light bulbs. Simply by changing to energy efficient lightbulbs you can save up to 28% off of your total electric bill. Nowadays you can purchase such amazing lightbulbs for as little as $2 (£1.25) – so they are very affordable and can save you lots of cash – a win-win situation. Energy saving light bulbs can be purchased at any normal local convenience store, so try to load up on these really helpful bill reducers.

Thirdly learn to keep your home cool. If running air conditioning during the hottest months is necessary for you, ensure that you keep them at a constant 78 degrees for the most efficient results. This is because turning your air conditioning system on and off quite frequently will make a lot of extra work for the system because it will take a while for your home to cool down again).

By keeping your air conditioner at a consistent 78 degrees, your home and its walls remain cool which in turn keeps in the current temperature. Reducing your air conditioner under 78 degrees risks that your energy bill will become very high.

The air conditioner is the one item that can shoot your electricity bill up massively, so you must be wise with it. If you must use the heat ability you also must be wise with that too. Therefore keep your thermostat at a steady 68 degrees in the colder months. Where viable, also try extra clothes around your house; this will mean you need to use your heater less.

Another pointer to remember is to check your home for places where air can escape. Sealing your home’s doors and windows to help stop such leaks will keep the warm air inside your home and the cold air out your home (or vice versa in the warmer times).

By making a couple of alterations around the home, you can save a significant amount of cash. Do your research and look on the internet for more ideas to make you home more energy friendly.

The 3 Secrets of an Energy Efficient Home

GREENOCK, UNITED KINGDOM - NOVEMBER 18: In th...
Image by Getty Images via @daylife

It is easier than you think to live in comfort whilst still keeping your home energy efficient. Some of the ideas are easier than you could imagine. All three are inexpensive to do compared to what you gain in return. So what are the three secrets of an energy efficient home?

Lighting

Are you still using the old fashioned incandescent light bulb? It isn’t the 20th century anymore and the rest of the world has moved on. Get with the times and switch to using energy efficient light bulbs.

Energy efficient light bulbs use 75% less energy than standard light bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. A little birdie also told me that dimmable versions are also now available at many major retailers.

Loft Insulation

A good layer of insulation in the ceiling space prevents the loss of heat through your roof. Heat loss occurs through your roof because warm air rises naturally. Insulating your ceiling cavity can reduce your heating costs by up to 15%.

It doesn’t cost the earth to have loft insulation installed. The money you save in heating costs will pay for the insulation many times over in the long-run and reduce your energy usage and carbon footprint.

Heating & Cooling

There are many options for heating your home on a budget, and economically. While it may make sense to buy a $30 or $40 electric oil heater for the winter now, it won’t once the electricity bill lands in the letterbox.

The most energy efficient method of heating on the market today is the heat pump air conditioner. They work in the exact same way as a fridge in that it transfers heat from one place to another using refrigerants. To heat your home, the heat energy in the air outside is first extracted, and then transferred indoors.

A heat pump can deliver up to 4kW of heating for each kW of electricity used. It does this simply by the way in which it works. By using electricity to transfer heat energy from one location to another, it can achieve extremely high levels of heat output for very little running cost.

You can also use a heat pump as an air conditioner during the hot summer months on the days when you just cannot stand the heat whatsoever. Find out what your heating requirements are with a heat pump calculator.

Simple and Cost Effective

The three methods above are cost effective and help save you money in the long term. Stop wasting your hard earned money on your power bills and get yourself some treats instead.

James Walton is an air conditioning and heat pump engineer in Auckland, New Zealand. By day he installs and repairs energy heating and cooling systems and by night he is a talented graphic designer and web developer.

Are Steel Kit Homes Designed For An Energy Efficient Lifestyle

Living in a cold climate, and I’m used to high energy bills, but I have to say. I’m not very fond of them. With the economy taking a turn for the worse, money is tight these days, no matter what your profession. Therefore, I started researching ways to live a more energy efficient lifestyle. That’s when I came across Steel Kit Homes. I live in a log cabin, and I was shocked by the comparison of steed framed homes to wood framed homes. Steel frame homes can be substantially more energy efficient than standard wood frame homes.

As I was researching the benefits of energy efficiency, I was also astounded by how harmful the air inside our home can be, and with today’s modern technology such as computers, video games, Ipod’s, and so on. I wasn’t too surprised by learning that 90% of all people spend most of their time indoors. I have to threaten my daughter just to get her to walk the dog, so that wasn’t a big shocker. However, learning that bacteria and mold expansion could be a major factor in homes that are not properly ventilated, sealed, and insulated, was. I am concerned about the quality of air I breathe, and more importantly, that my daughter breathes. I was also amazed by learning that contaminants can be up to five times higher inside a home than outside. Learning that I could control the air quality in my home, by simply making sure my air conditioner filters are cleaned and changed often enough, along with making sure the heating and cooling systems are installed correctly, was a big relief, especially knowing that the air quality raises health worries more commonly in children, the elderly and illness prone individuals. My daughter’s health is a major concern of mine. Therefore, I kept researching, and was deeply disturbed by the statistics. It is a fact, that poor air quality in your home could cause allergies, asthma, seasonal effective disorders, and even several types of cancer. Finding all this out, left me beside myself, but I was at ease, when I kept reading the benefits to Steel Kit Homes. The energy efficiency of kit homes surpasses that of other homes by far. Yes, it is true; steel is a high conductor of heat. However, the strength of steel allows the beams to be closer together, instead of further apart as with wood beams used for homes like mine. This meaning, it cuts down on the air intake seeping into your home.

Not only do Steel Kit Homes provide healthier indoor air quality, but they also cut down on those high energy bills, as I mentioned before. I would much rather spend my hard earned money taking my daughter to an amusement park, then pay those ridiculously high energy costs. Living an energy efficiency lifestyle means saving money. Now that I have done my research, there is no doubt that I will indeed be purchasing a Steel Kit Home, and if you are looking for a healthier way of living, then I suggest you check into it also.

There are many very resourceful websites to help you along the way, while making this decision, such as Kit Homes Queensland.

Energy Efficient LED Lights – The Best Option For Your House

These days electricity consumption is increasing in every house with a very rapid pace. In the coming years if the ever increasing consumption is not reduced then we can face major electricity crisis. In order to cut down your electricity bills it is very essential for you to install energy efficient lights and bulbs in your house and office. Energy efficient bulbs are gaining rapid popularity because they are highly efficient and they really help you to save a great amount of electricity.

In this article, I would mainly like to tell you about the various features of energy efficient LED lights and bulbs.

1. Durability factor
The full form of LED is Light emitting diodes. These special light emitting diodes are excellent power savers as they emit light in only one direction. These lights are used in various applications in today’s world. One great advantage of the LED bulb is that it is highly durable and they can last for approximately 30,000-50,000 hours. These lights do not have any filament that is why they can not be destroyed under the normal circumstances.

2. Great energy saving capacity
These lights are extremely cost effective and they really help you decrease your electricity consumption. You will see that the normal lights use a lot of energy to warm up the filament but this is not the case with LED bulbs because it coverts all the electric energy that is supplied to them into light energy.

3. No usage of mercury
You will see that harmful metals or mercury is not at all used in the Led bulbs that is why they are extremely safe.

4. Lightening the remote areas
These days special LED lights are being used for lightening the remote areas. LED’s require a very low power that is why they are installed in solar panels to generate electricity in various isolated areas.

5. Cooling capacity
You will see that incandescent bulbs produce 85 btu’s heat per hour whereas the LED bulbs only produce 3.4 btu’s heat per hour. The LED bulbs have a cooling effect on the atmosphere because heat is not built inside them.

6. Instant On and Off capability
LED lights are very safe around children because even if you drop them they would not harm your children. They are very cool to touch as they do not contain any mercury.

So, what are you waiting for, just purchase these great energy efficient lights to reduce your power consumption.

Due to the emphasis on the factories as major polluting agents, energy efficient industrial heating has been brought to the public’s attention more than ever before. The efficiency of the heating systems is evaluated according to HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning)standards, and all equipments should correspond to them. The necessity to implement green technologies appeared due to the increasing costs of energy and the tighter restrictions imposed to prevent pollution.

A fine example here is that of forced air systems. They substitute air conditioning and water heating system, and although they have a higher installation cost, considerable savings are made in time. Heat recovery ventilation works in parallel with such systems, because it allows to recover latent or sensible heat from exhausted air. The distribution of the energy in the system very much depends on the type of system used.

The heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment (HVAC) depends on a combination of cooling and heating sources. The efficiency of the system varies according to a number of factors that have nothing to do with the equipment but rather with the various elements specific to a certain place. You can thus make energy savings by reducing the operating hours of the electrical, heating and cooling systems. Turn fans off and control the heating and cooling systems in the industrial space that remains unoccupied.

Depending on the diversity of tasks, energy efficient heating is adjusted so as to correspond to requirements. Variations are also necessary for the change of seasons. The technical parameters are verified at such times in order to insure good functionality. The insulation of industrial halls also improves the energy efficiency, with both walls and roofs being covered with special materials. The temperature can thus be better regulated inside.

Furthermore, the quality of the air inside an industrial facility depends on how well the exhaust system works. The air has to remain clean and properly ventilated in order to create the right work conditions for the personnel. This is one of the reasons why ducts are sealed to prevent the waste of conditioned air. Insulation is used not only for air ducts but for chilled water pipes and hot water pipes too. The correct use of energy efficient industrial heating depends on the control of process temperature.

Do It Yourself Energy Efficiency Projects: Your Home’s Thermal Envelope (Part 2)

As mentioned in Part 1, your home is a “thermal envelope”. That is the sum total of the home’s insulation systems: walls, ceilings, foundation, floors, windows, and doors. These work more effectively with good, tight fits that seal out the weather and air. By having a tight seal on your home’s thermal envelope, the less energy you waste or lose by exchanging it too often with the air outside.

There are many steps to take when building your energy efficient dream home. Whether you buy pre-made building plans or design your own home, it’s possible to make the house work for you and the environment.

• Before considering the architecture of the house, it’s important to choose a location. The direction the house faces is significant. A home with the majority of the windows facing the southeast is extremely beneficial. The natural sun rays streaming in create natural heating and lighting. Appropriate sunshades can lessen the harsher sun rays. With heavier walling and fewer openings on the opposite side of the house, colder weather can be blocked.

• With the house facing the southeast, the angle of the roof should face towards the southwest, which will be an ideal location for solar panels. Solar panels can significantly lower the impact on the environment and your pocketbook, reducing electric bills from 75%-100% annually. It is also possible to be off-grid, which makes the home completely self-sufficient. Solar panels create completely renewable energy which gives off no pollutants.

• Along with photovoltaic panels it is also possible to install radiant solar collectors. These collectors accumulate energy that can be used for heating water, running an air conditioner, as well as heating floor coils. Heated floor coils are an efficient source of heating throughout a house as they surround the home in warmth using less energy.

• It is also possible to install water collectors on the roof, which, paired with radiant heating, can keep your home completely in warm water. The collection of rain water and gray water reuse can help put the house completely or even partially off-grid, as well as increase your self-sufficiency.

• In terms of energy efficiency, the interior of the house ranks just after location and architecture. An open and spacious interior allows for easy airflow, which helps minimize the energy needed for heating and cooling. You can also reduce the amount of energy needed for lighting by installing a wide array of windows facing southeast. The southeast orientation allows maximum light to enter the house, and a spacious interior lets the light to easily pass through.

Once the house is built, energy efficient appliances are part of the ongoing plan to reduce energy consumption. These products are becoming increasingly popular as consumers realize the ecological and economical benefits of living green. Using biodegradable and recycled products can further reduce your house’s carbon footprint. To help the environment even further, plant ornamental grasses that require minimal mowing and pruning, and use natural landscaping that requires less toxic chemicals to maintain.

Dark Energy – A Factor on Universe Expansion

Dynamical evolution of Universe and development of cosmic structure are driven by astronomical observations. Historically, measurements on galaxy and larger cosmological scales conflicted with predictions based on a cosmological model that combined Einstein’s theory of gravity (general relativity) and the standard model of particle physics. Modifications to this model were later introduced, involving dark matter and dark energy. Dark energy may be a major factor for expansion of the Universe.

Eco-Couture: The Green Shows

Eco-fashion is not really fashion- at least that’s probably what most of us think. It conveys a message, usually with a sassy or informational phrase, but doesn’t show a sense of style or show your individuality. It shows you care about the environment, but not really your appearance. However, eco-friendly clothing is on the rise, and there are many places to purchase trendy clothes that are fashionable and cute. Last week we saw a great example of this in New York City.

How to Make Your Home Energy Efficient

With the high cost of living more and more people are looking at ways to save money.  We waste so much energy though our everyday living and its costing us.  With fuel prices constantly going up we need to use every trick in the book to keep the bills as low as possible.  Below are some suggestions to make your home energy efficient.

What are your windows and doors like? If you live in an older house that hasn’t been updated them your window frames may have rotted away which will cause a loss of heat in the winter.  New double glazed windows and doors are much better at keeping the heat in.

Do you have insulation in your loft?  If you haven’t got any you will probably find that if you go into your loft it will be very hot.  This is all your wasted energy. Laying some insulation of up to 10 inches thick will keep the heat in your home and will save you a great deal of money in heating bills.  As well as loft installation having cavity wall insulation will help to keep your house worm.

The heating system in your home could be years old and not efficient.  There are many types of energy efficient heating systems including reusable heat systems.  Gas is becoming very expensive but with a combination boiler you will only heat the water you use and thus save money and energy.

You could install your own renewable energy system.  Solar panels, wind turbines or air source heat pumps are available and look set to stay. That is just the tip of the ice burg.  There are lots more systems some using hot rocks, others using biomass.  Renewable energy is the only way forward and more and more companies are popping up offering installation of renewable energy systems.

The obvious tips are to remember to turn off electrical appliances when they are not in use.  This sounds easier than it sounds.  We have all taken energy for granted and often leave lights on.  This can be stopped now with energy monitors.  You can see exactly where the energy is being used which should then give you the incentive to change your behaviour and start turning things off.

Ensuring your house is energy efficient will not only save you money but will provide a healthier standard of living for the family.
