Your cottage, farm or even city home can be lighted with electricity generated by the wind.Even if you are far from a power line you need not be without power.Wind power is also one of the green forms of energy generation which does no harm to our environment. It is in fact probably the cleanest form of power generation which can be harnessed at reasonable cost.Solar energy is also very “clean” but solar panels are costly and have low power output.

Commercially made wind power plants are available but are quite costly. The simple solution to this problem is to build your own wind power generator. If you have room on your property you could build several units for the price of one commercial unit.If you generate more power than you need you can sell the excess to your electricity company in many areas now.

This wind power generator which can be built from plans is the lowest cost unit which you will find anywhere. Our review of the others shows that they cost much more. This machine is built from new or used auto parts and a few odds and ends.It generates as much power as the more expensive alternatives.Building one of these generators is also much simpler. It is very reliable and will work for years with only routine servicing.

Some people think that you need to have powerful winds blowing most of the time to generate much electric power.Nothing could be further from the truth.Light winds or breezes do generate power which you can store in storage batteries.

Wind power was very popular in the 1930 to 1950 period. It was used by many people to generate power or to pump water from a well.People were very cost concious in those harder times.Nowadays,in these days of abundance, most people have lost this necessity to keep cost to a minimum and are quite happy to pay the power company every month.

A new age of wind power is now upon us when the necessity is to produce “green” power which does no harm to our environment. Many areas in the USA and elsewhere now have large scale wind power generation plants in operation and many more are scheduled to be built.

Small wind turbine generators are the shape of things to come. Many consumers are now installing them to generate at least part of the power they consume. If you live far from a power line of course your own power plant is the only way to go.

The average home workshopper can easily build a wind power generator using just simple tools and used auto parts. It will turn out as much power as an expensive commercial wind turbine. You can build several for the cost of one commercial model. If you generate more power than you use you can sell it to the power company in many areas. Now is the time to build your own wind power turbine genretrator.

It is true. You may have heard it and not believed it, but you can build a wind generator on your own. Even better is the large amounts of money you can save when you build a wind generator instead of purchasing one from a wholesaler or retailer. It is easy to build a wind generator with the plans and instructions available. By utilizing used auto parts, odds and ends and general supplies from your local hardware store, you can build a wind generator in no time.

You may be wondering why you should build a wind generator when you can just purchase one, but commercial wind generators cost in the thousands to buy. The materials needed to build a wind generator, the DC motor, batteries, towers and hub, are fairly inexpensive. It is possible to build a wind generator for under $500 and that means realizing the return on your investment years before you would have buying a professionally installed commercial model. Even if you invest in better quality materials when you build a wind generator, you will still find your total cost way below that of the professional installation.

Electric power generated by wind is one of the most efficient renewable power resources available. Many cities worldwide have started to convert to wind power to supplement their energy supply. It is possible to have a green energy supply by taking the time to build a wind generator. Not only are you helping the environment, but also you can save money at the same time.

It is not difficult to build a wind generator. The average do-it-yourselfer can complete this project with simple tools. There are detailed instructions and plans available to build a wind generator in your workshop or home. So build your wind generator today and put it on your roof or support pole and start generating your free power, thanks to a little breeze.

Globally there is an increasing awareness among people about the damage that we have done to our environment. This factor coupled with rising fuel prices has revived the interest of people in wind turbines. wind power for homes is something that homeowners around the world are looking at seriously. Not only can wind turbines help in generating clean power, they can also help you save substantial amounts of money on your energy bills in the long run too.

There are several online guides that can help you build your own wind turbine. You need not be technically qualified in order to install one in your home. In fact wind power for homes is now only a matter of following instructions from detailed manuals, most of which you can find online. Moreover, the entire process of putting together the equipment in place is also a fun opportunity for the entire family.

A good amount of planning and research is needed if you are thinking of building your own wind turbine. First of all you will need to get all the equipment and tools ready. You will for instance need a generator, a mounting, blades, a tower and batteries to store the power in. You can find most of the things that you need for the purpose at a local hardware store.

You will then need to decide on the location in your home that you want to place the wind turbine in. The rapid advances in technology mean that you need not live in a very windy area for your wind turbine to generate power. Even the slightest breeze is enough to turn the blades that you can find in the latest wind turbines.

Using wind power for homes is a lot easier than what you think. You can find detailed information on it at the online guide Earth4Energy. You can now build your own wind turbine by following the step by step instructions you will find on this online guide.

Why all this discussion about going green first of all you may be asking? Well simply put, more and more people these days are very concerned about doing what they can to lower their fuel bills, use energy more wisely and trying to reduce the amount of garbage that ends up in the landfill. The whole point of going green is to find some best practices, whether they are at home, at your place of business or simply in our everyday lives that will help us to achieve this goal. So here are a few random tips looking at cars and the home to get the reader started.

With respect to cars you can:

1.	Keep the air filter clean:

o Just like humans, cars and vehicles need to breathe properly also. The dirtier the air filter the harder the vehicle will have to work thus burning more gas and hurting your wallet even more.

2.	Car pooling with people who you like:

o	Obviously if there is another passenger in your car, that is one less car off the road if he or she is accustomed to driving. Remember though to let your passengers know that they have to respect your vehicle, do not let them slam your car doors or let your doors slam against a wall, other cars or stationary objects. You might end up spending more money fixing the damages than what you might be trying to save by going green.

Also remember that with more people in your car, you will have higher gas expenses but considerably less gas will be used compared to having your passenger drive their own car. Ask your car pooling buddies if they will pitch in for gas, since gas seems to be going up all over the world and probably will not return to levels which we are used to.

3.	Hand wash your own car:

o	Many of us love our cars and some but not all, wash our cars at home. It is true there are car washes at your local garage or gas station but there are still many countries where it is not the custom to go to a car wash. So for those who still wash their own car by hand, try using a bucket and water instead of the hose.

In other words, fill the bucket with some water and get a sponge and wash the car yourself. You can use a scrub brush for the tires since that surface is tougher. You will be amazed at how far a bucket of water can go and you will not constantly have the water running when the hose is not in use.

In your home there are many possibilities but a few are as follows:

1.	Recycle your glass and plastic bottles:

o	Even if you are the one who does not go to the recycling center, there is nothing wrong with putting your bottles into separate bags and placing them by the trash. In many cities around the world, the less fortunate collect bottles and return them to the recycling center themselves to collect the few cents per dollar.

Help do your part by separating the bottles into their own bags, instead of having such people go through your garbage looking for bottles and causing a mess on the sidewalk or around your garbage collecting area.

2.	Find creative ways to use items:

o	Think of a way to reuse items before throwing them out. If you ship things frequently, maybe hold onto clean items such as egg boxes, cartons that are washed out or simply boxes that you may receive. These can be reused for shipping and packaging purposes.

3.	Solar heating:

o	Use a solar heating system for your water, if available in your country. In many developing countries such as certain islands in the Caribbean, they have been using solar heating for decades now. You basically have a tank of water on your roof, with solar panels connected to it and the heat from the sun heats the water which is stored in the tank.

True that in countries which have the winter season or where it is not hot all year around, some sort of backup system will have to be used. But the point is, for those few months of spring, summer and fall where it is possible to have the warmth of the sun to heat your water; this is a viable and cheap alternative.

Obviously, there are many other areas which you can look at whether it be with your electronics, personal self with respect to walking instead of driving, you can look at generating your electricity at home with the use of home based wind wills and even with the food you feed your pets.

I hope this article has allowed people to realize that it is the simple things which can allow all of us to get started on going green within the home and our businesses and that we can help create or leave behind a better Earth for future generations.

It has undergone a comprehensive retrofit using cutting edge Green technologies and materials to achieve Net Zero Energy use while preserving the architectural integrity of this iconic residence. The renewable energy sources available within the homes footprint offsets the total energy (in kWh) used by the house. This completely remodeled home is stylishly furnished and features super-efficient heating, cooling and ventilation systems. The five goals for the renovation were Energy Efficiency, Comfort, Health, Water, and Historic Preservation. Energy Efficiency Net zero energy is accomplished by generating electricity with solar power and conserving energy with an insulated building envelope and high-efficiency appliances. Comfort A comfortable home environment is created by a balanced heating, cooling and ventilation system which keeps the house at a medium temperature and keeps the air fresh. Health The indoor air quality was improved with a whole-house air filter and point-of-entry water filtration system. Low or no VOC materials were used in the cabinets as well as in the paint and finishes. Water The reduction of water use is achieved by installing low flow fixtures and appliances, a recirculation pump, and by reconfiguring the plumbing …

Concern about our environment is certainly a growing concern. But, hitting home more directly, for many families, is the ever-rising costs of energy. If you live in a cold climate you are probably feeling the pinch of rising fuel oil costs. I lived in New Hampshire for many years and I was acutely aware of this. It seemed that every winter the prices just kept going up. But it is not just cold climates and seasons where rising energy costs are an issue. Cooling your home is more expensive too.

There are ways to dramatically improve the energy efficiency of your home and one of them is with the right types of window blinds and shades. One of the best types of window treatments for insulation is cellular shades, also called cell shades and honeycomb shades. They come in single, double and triple cells. The triple cell shades offer the greatest level of insulation both for hot and cold weather.

There are other choices. Many types of window treatments and coverings now offer significant energy efficiency so you are not stuck with only one choice. For example, may manufacturers of window blinds and shades offer insulated roman shades. This is usually an option that gets added on to the style you choose but, some come this way right from the factory.

Another choice, for those who want the benefits of cellular shades, but the look of drapery-style fabrics, should consider insulating roman panel shades. Panel shades are also called panel track blinds and sliding window panels. Panel shades have overlapping fabric panels on a wheeled track system, something akin to vertical blinds.

Another idea is to maximize the sun’s heat with solar shades, or sheer shades. With these window shades you can make use of the natural light during daylight hours. Most solar shades and sheer shades offer the privacy you desire but still allow the sunlight to warm you room’s interior.

Aside from energy-efficient cellular shades, roman shades or panel shades, you can also insulate your home by using weather-stripping to seal windows and doors. Also try placing foam draft blockers behind electrical cover plates. You may also want to use insulation to wrap your water heater and water pipes, preventing heat loss during transfer.

While I am on the subject of energy efficiency, I would remind you that one of the simplest things you can do to save energy is replace your regular light bulbs with compact florescent bulbs (CFLs). CFLs will last up to ten times longer than regular light bulbs, while using only 1/4 of the energy! Many manufacturers offer CFLs that are warmer in color and look very much like regular bulbs. They can save energy and showcase your interior design style at the same time.

All of these things I have mentioned, especially the window shades and blinds are not exactly cheap. But, they will pay off in the long run. Sometimes, we just don’t have the money to make our homes as energy efficient as we’d like. I certainly understand this dilemma. If you are in this situation, consider purchasing one piece at a time, over many months, even years. That is what I did while living in the Northeast. I lived in one of those old New England homes with like 50 windows. There was no way I could buy cellular shades for the entire house all at once. So, I started slow and purchased shades for the living room, then the bedrooms and so on.

It is important to note that pleated blinds or shades do not offer the same insulation as cellular shades even though they look similar. Good luck and stay warm! ? David Brooks

Traditional batteries haven’t progressed far beyond the basic construction developed by Volta. However inventor JP Human experimented with the traditional 150 year old battery chemistry and realized during his eight years of R & D that the solution lies in the internal construction, his findings and invention evolved secondary battery chemistry by means of integrating charging and discharging in one hybrid system, this hybrid system will dwarf conventional battery’s internal construction known today. www.h-power.co.za
