President praises Welch work on efficiency, Part 2

President Obama singled out Rep. Peter Welchs work advocating for an energy efficiency jobs program today at an event in Alexandria, Va., on Dec. 15, 2009. Speaking to an audience of workers, manufacturers and business owners at a local Home Depot, Obama praised Welch for, working to jumpstart our retrofit ewww.youtube.com around the nation. The event follows Obamas announcement last week that Welchs home retrofit jobs program referred to by some as Cash for Caulkers or Home Star was among the Presidents three priorities in forthcoming job creation legislation.

Orion Energy Systems (Nasdaq: OESX) President and CEO Neal Verfuerth on Monday participated in a panel discussion at the White House addressing innovation and clean energy. Following the panel, President Barack Obama addressed the media, panelists and those attending the discussion — including venture capitalists, scientists and entrepreneurs — touting clean energy, energy efficiency and his proposed budget that includes $150 billion over 10 years for clean energy and energy efficiency.

President Obama and Energy Secretary Steven Chu announce several actions that will promote energy efficiency and save Americans billions of dollars per year. The announcement includes major changes to energy conservation standards for lighting, as well as $346 million from the Recovery Act that will accelerate the development and use of energy efficient technologies in commercial and residential buildings.
