These days, more and more alternative energy sources are being used each and every day. With the gas crisis and other environmental issues arising, we need to look into alternative methods for energy. Some of these alternative methods have been around for some time, proving themselves and showing people that the energy they provide is something people can rely on. The two main sources are wind and solar energy. For this article, I’m going to touch more on wind energy, and how you can build your own wind generator to power small appliances around your home!

Using a homebuilt wind generator for power is one of the ways you can help contribute to conserving energy. Not only that, but building one of these machines can be cost-effective, and fun to do! The supplies required to build one of these can be found at your local hardware store. Generally, you can get supplies for less than $200. If you really wanted to save some extra cash AND help save the earth, you could opt to find recycled parts. You can easily find steel tubing and other materials needs at a local recycling center. Using recycled parts is a big way to show that you are really in with the “green movement”.

Lastly, in order to build an effective wind generator, you need a great set of instructions, or a detailed guide to follow along with. You really can’t build one of these yourself without this, unless you know someone who builds wind generators for a living. A great set of instructions will be the difference in whether your machine will perform great or be a flop.

So, now you are aware of what it takes to make your own wind generator. If you’re into alternative energy, consider building one and help save the earth. You never know – You’re skills might come in handy some day when alternative energy is used all over the world!

The Earth Day celebrations of April 22, 2010 in Miami Valley included the incorporation of high-efficiency air systems, energy efficient roofs in Centerville, introduction of recycling programs for batteries, manuals, metals, toner cartridges and yard wastes in Moraine. In West Carrollton, biodegradable chemicals are used for road treatment. Greene County is has been undertaking organic waste compost programs to reduce trash volumes. These are some of the energy efficiency projects being undertaken in just one part of the world. With the entire world concerned about the impact of global warming, it is only logical that one switches to natural energy solutions for home and office use.

Energy Efficiency: Solar Power Solutions

You can ensure energy efficiency at home or at your workplace by installing a solar energy system. Generating clean energy from natural sources, solar panels provide security by protecting against electricity rate hikes. Solar power is not only economical when compared to conventional energy sources, but also entails rebates and incentives from state governments to aid a customer’s initial investment. The state offers 30% Federal investment tax credit along with other rebates and incentives to encourage the use of solar electric systems.

Solar power solutions can aid you line your coffers even in terms of the reduction in electricity bills and dependability. Another way of saving money is by opting for DIY solar power kits. Although the price of panels has gone down drastically, buying the complete unit can be quite expensive, when compared to solar kits. These kits are available with plans and diagrams, necessary for making panels with photovoltaic cells and replacing shingles and tiles on roofs with solar tiles. Contrary to common belief, solar panels, when installed according to the instructions mentioned in the manual, can also last very long.

However, be careful while selecting kits. Energy efficiency is ensured even in the low price range solar kits. There are some that cost hundreds of dollars, while others cost not more than $100. Make sure that you take time to research well, compare prices as well as features of each kit. Also, purchase kits that provide instructions for installing panels, in addition to offering the inventory of supplies and devices you would require to construct the system. Irrespective of the system you purchase, solar energy systems will aid you in severing connections with the electric company, thus saving thousands of dollars per year.

Selecting energy efficient solar systems is an important purchase decision. Costs differ from company to company. FrozCo2.com can aid you in your purchase through their reverse auction system. On this website, companies compete for solar projects and through the reverse auctions system, can purchase Green projects as drastically lowered prices.

Today, with the rising cost of energy around the globe, people have become aware of the importance of saving. In fact there is an emergence of discoveries pertaining to saving energy equipments. People have become aware of the effects of human activities to our environment and this awareness has given them the urge to start change with themselves.

Click Here For Save On Home Energy Instant Access Now!

As a result to the massive campaign for saving energy, more and more people are planning on having small energy efficient homes that can benefit the environment and at the same time meet your every need.

What are the advantages of small efficient homes? There are a lot of benefits that you can get from energy efficient homes. On an interpersonal aspect of a family a smaller home is better because there will be good communications among the family members. On the financial aspect, maintaining a smaller house is much affordable than maintaining a bigger house. A smaller, well laid out home, you should be able to stay in that home for years longer than a ‘big’ home and have sustainability in both the financial and long term personal accessibility areas. The small home will also be easier for your children to maintain if you were disabled or to sell if the need arises.

The sustainability of a small non-impressive, efficient house will be simple and easy for almost all responsible people. It will be much easier on the environment. They use less energy and a renewable resource. They are becoming quite popular with people who are concerned about the environment. But solar is just one step in making a home Eco friendly.

To have energy efficient home does not always mean building a new home. Older homes can be converted into an energy efficient one by doing some remodeling, redesigning or renovation. Replacing appliances and adding new energy sources are just a few of energy efficient changes that you can make.

There are three feasible energy providers other than crude oil and coal. They are the wind, sun(solar power), and nuclear plant.

The solar energy is a free source of electricity. We basically receive sunlight everyday so it is wise to put sunlight into good use. Unlike gasoline, solar energy does not produce a by-product that harms the environment. The solar energy will let you save more, do more and conserve more. You can have a solar generator at your own home right now.

Save More

Installing solar panels at your house may be a little expensive at first. But once you get to run the equipment, you will be able to spend a little or no money in the next months.

Do more

Since the electricity you receive is from the sun, you have the opportunity to use more electricity at lesser cost. This ensures productivity.

Solar energy at home allows you to make a solar cooker. A solar cooker basically cooks food without the need of fuel. The small container can cook meals for up to 5 people. You can boil, roast, bake, and even fry in it. Food may take time to cook in the solar cooker but given that it saves me on the fuel, I’d rather catch the opportunity.

Solar home lighting allows you to store solar energy for later use. The solar panels have cells that trap the energy and are readily utilized when you need a light.

During those cold nights, you might just want to avail of the solar heating system. Today’s solar heating panels are aesthetically pleasing so you can decorate your house with it without looking like a laboratory. It is a bit expensive but your investment will return in 3 to 4 years and you will enjoy a free hot bath after that.

Conserve More

By using solar energy, you will help in preserving the non renewable sources of energy. You also save the environment from pollution caused by burning of fuel. It’s time to move today while it is not yet too late.

Discover how you can lower your electric bill by up to 80% – Home Built Wind Power Generator

“In the nation’s pursuit of energy affordability, climate change mitigation, and energy security, energy efficiency stands out as perhaps the single most promising resource.” — Unlocking Energy Efficiency in the U.S. Economy, McKinsey and Company, September, 2009.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. The problem is, while both business and residential energy efficiency can be major ways to save energy, money, and the planet, it is, just, well, a little boring. RENEWABLE ENERGY gets all the attention, and to be sure, solar, wind, geothermal and tidal power are all exciting ways to save energy, prospects that in the long run will reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and unstable foreign power.

But long before these technologies reach a price point that is appealing to most Americans, we can harness the power of improving business and residential energy efficiency to take small, sustainable steps towards a healthier planet, which is why we’ve come up with five simple and inexpensive ways to save energy and money by using less electricity around the home and office.

Five Ways to Save Energy

1) Your PC likes breaks too — Ok, quick! Put your computer to sleep (cue the Jeopardy theme). If it took you more than three seconds, you’re working too hard. One of the easiest ways to save energy is with an ecobutton(TM). It’s ridiculously easy to use, impossible to ignore on your desk, and its software reports your dollar and CO2 savings every time you use it, which feeds your green conscience.

2) Light only the page — Do you read books in bed before you go to sleep? We do. But we get all the light we need using an LED-illuminated Lightwedge(R). And we never feel guilty about our residential energy efficiency levels if we fall asleep with the Lightwedge(R) still on.

3) Slay the vampire — When you switch off your big screen TV, you’re not getting the big picture. Because we are an impatient society, our electronic devices use energy even when turned off, just on the chance you might show up. This standby, aka “vampire” power, is nearly equal to the amount the device sucks while in use. Get a smart strip to improve residential energy efficiency and stop Dracula in his tracks.

4) Dim your lamps — We’re cheating a little. Using less light is more about conservation than residential energy efficiency, but there are times when less is okay. Not many stand-alone lamps have dimmer switches, one of the best ways to save energy. We’ve got an app for that however — a lamp-friendly dimmer. And for an energy-efficient alternative to an incandescent, consider a fully compatible, dimmable, energy saving bulb.

5) Greenlight your world — There is a direct relationship between enthusiasm for business and residential energy efficiency and the value gained from making the effort. Consider 23-watt eco-friendly light bulbs that have it all:

flattering, warm white light 100% post-consumer waste packaging, 76% more energy efficient than an equivalent 100 watt traditional incandescent bulb, 7 year guarantee, and 10 month pay back if turned on just two hours per day (1).

High Hopes for the Future of Business and Residential Energy Efficiency

We have high hopes for renewable energy and are following every development when it comes to ways to save energy. But for now, because the cheapest, cleanest kilowatt of electricity is the one that’s never used in the first place, we think McKinsey & Company is on to something.

We hope our simple business and residential energy efficiency ideas for living more lightly will inspire you to take action and to dream up your own to help save the only planet we’ll ever call home.

How To Save On Home Energy is a rapidly growing interest for many home owners. When it comes to household bills and expenses, nothing ever seems to get any cheaper. The cost of natural fuel sources is increasing at an alarming rate and, not surprisingly, our gas and fuel bills at home are also on a sharp increase.

These reasons largely contribute to a rapidly growing interest in people looking for alternative and cost effective ways of how to save on home energy. There are a number of very simple and relatively straightforward ways to do this that a large proportion of home owners generally overlook.

Here are just 3 of the most frequently asked questions when looking for ways of how to save home energy:

1) Why Should I save on home energy?

This question is one which you should come to terms with before any other. First and foremost, ultimately you want to save money on your gas bills. For reasons outlined above, this is the primary goal for your reasons for how to savine home energy. The other benefit is that you will be doing your little bit for the environment. By burning less energy at home, you are helping to reduce the amount of harmful toxins and emissions that conventional energy producing methods generate.

2) What’s The Easiest Way For Me To Save On Home Energy?

There are many small and simple steps you can follow to help save home energy that many people overlook. These are things such as turning lights off when not needed, switching to low energy lights, keeping doors closed (particularly in colder months), not leaving electrical items on standby, buying energy efficient electrical items and turning your thermostat down a degree or two. However the biggest impact you can have when looking for ways on how to save home energy, is to generate your own free electricity by building your own solar panels or wind turbine.

3) Will It Initially Cost Me Anything To Save On Home Energy?

The short answer to this is no. Most of the tips above cost nothing to implement. All you need is a small degree of discipline. You’re the one who’s paying for your heating and gas bills so why waste it by leaving doors and windows open when it’s cold outside – but you would be surprised how many people actually do!! They are simple steps which cost you nothing.

However, to make a real impact, a small but very prudent investment may be needed. The benefits of solar and wind energy are being recognised more and more with home owners across the world as a viable, cost effective means of saving home energy. When looking for ways of how to save home energy, wind and solar should be top of your priorities.

It is quite possible to build your own solar panels to generate home electricity for under $200 and these will provide a long term, free, sustainable and clean energy supply for your home for years to come.

During this time of economic concern, many of us are looking for ways to save money in any way that we can.
One of the best ways to save money now and into the future is to invest in energy efficient appliances.
There are many different types of these appliances on the market today.
They are available from many different manufacturers and in many different sizes and designs. So, you will not
need to worry about a lack of style in the design, or whether it will fit in with your kitchen design.
Efficiency in an appliance does
not mean that you will need to sacrifice style. One of the other major benefits of energy
efficient appliances is the fact that the cost of many of them will be used as a tax deduction because of the
lessened environmental impact that they have.

Refrigerators

An energy efficient refrigerator may be one of the first and best investments that one can make when it comes to
buying an energy efficient appliance. This is because unlike many other appliances that you have in your home,
your refrigerator is running constantly. It is the one appliance that is in constant use, since you have the
need to keep your food chilled in order to preserve the freshness. The price difference in these appliances is
not very drastic when compared to appliances that are not as efficient. In addition, the difference in many cases
will be recouped within a year or two because of the energy savings that will accrue from the new appliance as
opposed to the one that you used previously.

Freezers

Many people today not only have the traditional combination refrigerator and freezer, but an additional
freezer. In order to make the most of this appliance you will want to choose one that will fit in the
space available in your kitchen, as well as choosing one that is very energy efficient. Use one that will
have a higher efficiency rating, that will save you money – and recoup the extra money you spend
on your wise investment.

Ovens

Energy efficient ovens are primarily those that are electric as opposed to their gas counterparts.
This is because it is hard to be able to improve the efficiency of natural gas, whereas electrical components
and heating elements are being improved regularly. Depending on the type and style of oven you are looking into
will of course provide the price differential as well as the energy savings that you will be able to receive.
Because of the improved efficiency of heating elements as well as the improvements
that have been made in the insulation of ovens allowing them to retain heat longer, there is now both
improved efficiency and cost savings in ovens.

Dishwashers

An energy efficient dishwasher can save you money in electricity consumption. Some models will not only save
electricity but water as well. When purchasing one of these wonderful appliances
consider how often it is going to be used, in addition to when you will be using it. This will help to control how
much your hot water tank will be working and the amount of electricity that will be drawn from the house
at one time, while multiple appliances are running. When shopping, compare the prices as well as the overall
energy savings experienced by the appliance based on usage. If you will not be using the appliance on a regular
basis, or only periodically, then it may not make financial sense to spend extra money on an energy efficient
dishwasher. However, if you want to do your ‘bit’ for the environment, then buy an energy-efficient dishwasher
for the benefits to our planet!

Cooktops

Energy efficiency is not limited to what many would consider the larger appliances. Cooktops are made with energy
efficiency capacity as well. Often most of the cooking will be done on the cooktop, and energy savings can be
considered.
Look at different models and choose an electric instead of a gas cooktop. An electric cooktop with coils that
reach the required heat, and then maintain that heat while you need it, use much less energy.

Choosing energy efficient appliances, will not only benefit you economically in the long run, but will help
ecologically as well. A great bonus – and a reason to look thoroughly into the energy-efficiency rating of any
new appliance that you buy!

It is relatively easy to build a wind turbine, providing some directions are followed. While for most people the thought of building a wind turbine generator could be too much, it should not be the case with a proper plan of action. The reward for the effort will be few $thousands saved over ready made kits and a much lighter electrical bill.

Materials to build a wind turbine can be purchased at a local hardware shop, shipped from a store or even self made. The main components of a windmill are the mast with the rigging, a nacelle to contain the generator, the blades, a bank battery, wire and possibly a DC motor analyzer. The mast can be made of steel pipe rigged up with steel lines and can be set up with the help of a friend. The mast should be positioned above the highest obstacles, however a too tall a mast will increase size and weight exponentially, bringing the costs up.

Several smaller units on shorter masts will deliver the same power output without increasing the costs too much. Should one fail, the others still work. A home made wind turbine could produce between 1000 and 3000 watt, costing between $150 and $250. The generator can be either purchased or delivered, while the blades can be even made in few hours. PVC blades are also available. A three blade design is the most common, not just for professional wind farms, but also for DIY homemade windmills, as this design offers the best compromise between energy efficiency and construction costs. It is also appealing to the eye.

Very important is how to get hold of batteries for the generator battery bank. They can be had for free or a pittance from old fork lift trucks, pulsed back into life and recycled. Batteries from old fork lifts can also be recycled and sold as a stand alone business on top of the money saved from electricity bills. Last but not least, a DC motor analyzer software can help increase the efficiency of the generator for maximum savings. The more wind energy is converted into kinetic energy, the stronger the power output.

Blade yawing and furling are simplified for homemade turbines, they do not require complex hydraulics or be motor assisted. Instead, a simple tail to adjust to wind direction and a spring loaded system to furl the blade in strong gusts is all is needed. A good design should include all the above points to build a wind turbine for home.
