Homemade Wind Turbines.

Wind power is for sure a very prospective alternative for green energy source. If you ever consider to use it to power your house, first thing first please consider the location where you live.

A windmill solution obviously requires wind. To be specific, you will need wind speeds more than 8MPH on average. But even 8MPH is considered a low-wind-speed area for wind turbines. 12MPH average is ideal.

Start your search by checking wind speed charts that fit your area:

If You Live in the USA: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/online/ccd/wndspd.txt If You Live in Canada: http://www.wunderground.com/global/Region/CN/WindSpeed.html If You Live in the UK or Europe: http://www.xcweather.co.uk If you live in Australia: http://www.wunderground.com/global/Region/AU/WindSpeed.html

Assuming that the average wind speed in your area is above 8MPH, then continue on to the other considerations listed below.

If you don’t live in a suitable area, then you should consider a solar power conversion instead.

Wind Turbine Considerations

Once you’ve determined that wind power is suitable for your area there are a few other things you need to consider. Really this is just about asking some questions and then answering them. Taking the time to do so will ensure you choose a wind power system that fits. Especially if you are planning to live off the grid, you should take the time to answer these questions before you start.

Here are the questions you need to ask yourself:

Your Power Needs

The first thing that needs to be considered is your power needs. Are you simply looking to reduce your power bill with a single small windmill? Or, will you want to power your entire home?
If you’re looking to power your whole home, you should take the time to calculate your actual power requirements. If you take the time to download Earth 4 Energy, their guide comes with a calculator and instructions on how to do this (you’ll need this guide anyway).

Storing Power fwind powerurbines

After answering your first question you then need to consider building a storage system for your wind turbine. A simple array of batteries can be designed to store as little or as much power as needed.
If you’re only building a small wind power solution to reduce your power bills then this is likely less of a concern.
On the other hand if you’re looking to live off the grid, you will need to consider energy storage. You should use your calculation for your power needs to design this part of your system. Take into consideration how much power you will need to store and for how long.

If you have weeks where there is less wind than usual, ensure that you have a large enough battery array to compensate (or better yet work to reduce you energy needs by using high efficiency bulbs and appliances).

Having a Backup Plan

Finally, for those who plan to live entirely off the grid, you should consider your backup plan. For most of us consistent power is a requirement. Ensure that you design your wind turbine solution with a backup plan. Generally a small gas generator is enough to ensure you have power if something goes wrong.

The escalating cost of electrical power along with the rapid depletion of the Earth’s fossil fuels, are giving pause to homeowners who are trying to balance their energy choices against the effect that their choices may have on the environment that their children and grandchildren will inherit. Many, in the areas of the country that have favorable wind conditions, are building and installing domestic wind turbines to fulfill some or all of their family’s electric power requirements. Most are driven by the desire to contain household living expenses, but others who can easily absorb the higher fuel and utility charges are installing these domestic wind turbines because of their sincere belief that the planet is in trouble, and needs their help. Domestic wind turbines generate energy that is cheap, abundant, and green.

Benefits of Domestic Wind Turbines

Domestic wind turbines generate energy that is better than renewable, it’s inexhaustible. Those who are generating even part their power for domestic use are not only saving money, they are also reduces the emission of CO2 and other gasses that contribute to the greenhouse effect.

The yearly operating costs for domestic wind turbines are negligible in comparison to the cost of electricity purchase from your area power company. These turbines require almost no maintenance, and the source of power is free. It is the up-front costs that sometimes form a roadblock for some middle-class homeowners, but more about that later.

Those early adopters who installed wind turbines decades ago, worked with large bulky equipment that required a lot of space to assemble, install, and operate. Maintenance was also a much greater problem that it is now. These older installations were created not so much for cost and environmental concerns. They were often the only alternative to having no power in some remote farming areas. Today, however, technological advances have provided us with systems that are amazingly small and light. These systems are easier to install than their predecessors; some are even designed to be mounted on rooftops.

Installing only one of these small units won’t provide you with enough energy to permit you to get off from the electric company grid. One will, however, when combined with additional units or with solar power systems, provide you with a sizable portion of your energy needs at a considerable cost savings.

Components and Costs

When this modern generation of domestic wind turbines were originally introduced, they were attractive to hobbyists and innovative early adopters. They were expensive and made a statement more about the owner’s world view than his financial acumen. Today’s commercially manufactured wind turbines can be purchased at reasonable cost, but more importantly can be built from components found at your local hardware store. Handy homeowners, using simple hand tools, can build and install a system for around $200. All they need is a good DIY step-by-step guide, somwind powere, and tools to construct a system that will work as long and as efficiently as the commercial offerings.

Is Wind Power Right for Your Home?

Obviously, wind power is not suitable for every home. Crowded metropolitan areas or exclusive vacation villages may not be appropriate venues for domestic wind power systems. If, however, your home is on a large piece of land in an area where neighborhood resistance is not a factor, you may be able to construct a large wind turbine that can generate significant electrical energy for your home. There are smaller rooftop mounted systems that can be used in more structured surroundings, but you must have adequate average wind velocity of at least ten miles per hour to generate even a small component of your energy needs.

Survey you particular situation. If it logistically possible for you to install a wind turbine for home use, you’ll save money and help the environment at the same time.

With the impeding electricity and natural resources crises, people are turning to domestic wind turbines. These homemade wind turbines are sprouting up everywhere; mainly because people have begun to realize their importance and benefits. Many homes and small businesses are adopting this technology to both contribute their two cents back to the society by using renewable resources and also as a source of energy that is cheap, green and everlasting. The fluctuating energy costs and lack of financial stability has made it important for us to look at renewable energy sources as an effective solution both for our homes and businesses.

The Main Benefits of Domestic Wind Turbines

There are numerous advantages of using renewable sources of energy. The domestic wind turbine is a perfect example. If you are powering your house using a homemade wind turbine, you are not only saving on utility bills every month but also reducing your carbon footprint. After the initial cost of installation, the domestic wind turbine needs very little maintenance and the running costs are very little because wind energy is totally free. This also provides a lot of stability as electricity generated from burning of fossil fuel is subjected to fluctuations of oil price. Furthermore the burning of fossil fuel emits heat and carbon dioxide thus affecting our environment.

With the advances in technology and rapid growth in the domestic renewable energy sector, the domestic wind turbines have changed from being very bulky, cumbersome to install and requiring large space. They are now relatively very easy to install and can be placed up on rooftops. Though they don’t generate enough power to completely go off the grid, they are still worth the effort and can be combined with other forms of renewable energy such as solar panels for a complete green energy solution.

Costs and Availability of Components

Domestic wind turbines stared as expensive installations used only by hobbyists worldwide but not anymore! They have now become cheap and anyone can build them easily. A homemade wind turbine can be made for less than $200 using components from a local hardware store or you can even find them at the lowest cost on the Internet. Just get yourself a DIY guide on wind turbines and you are ready to harness the wind energy all by yourself without having to pay thousands of dollars for a professional windmill.

Is Your House Suitable for a wind power System?

Wind power systems are suited to most country homes and villas. If you have land space of more than an acre, it is perfect for domestic wind turbines that have bigger wind blades that are able to generate a lot more power. Even if you don’t have much space available, smaller installations can be made on rooftops. One more thing to take note of is the availability of wind and the wind speed in your area. Generally a minimum wind speed of 10 miles an hour is required to harness enough wind energy.

People around the world are realizing the importance of clean sources of energy such as wind and solar power. Building wind power turbines has become a lot easier nowadays. In fact one need not be a qualified engineer to build one. Man has been using wind power for several centuries now, though it is only recently due to the rising levels of pollution that interest has been revived in them. Windmills and wind turbines can be seen making a comeback in most parts of the world for this reason.

It is always preferable that you do a bit of research on the various parts that make up wind power turbines, before you try your hand at making one. To start off the process you must first of all gather all the equipment that you would need. Construction material is the next thing that you need to decide on. Although both wood and aluminum are used to make windmills, these days aluminum is the preferred material, since it is considered more durable.

The next thing that you need to carefully plan is the location of the turbine. You must make sure that you install it in a place where there is ample open space. Remember, even the best turbine ever built will not be of any use if there were to be insufficient wind flow. The location also should be such that there is unobstructed access to wind current for the free rotation of the blades.

Homemade wind power turbines offer you a great way to save money on energy bills, as well as contribute your might towards a greener world. You can save even up to 80 percent on your energy bills, by using wind power turbines in your home.

You can get loads of information on wind power turbines by visiting Earth4Energy. You can also build one for your home by going through the instructions given on this online guide.

A few years ago if someone were to have told you that you can generate electricity right inside your home, then you would have laughed at that person. Today, it is something that is no longer a fantasy. It is a reality for which an increasing number of wind power turbines stand testimony. You can now easily build your own wind turbine and generate wind power electricity.

Ideally speaking, having a lot of free space around your home would be preferable, if you want to build your own windmill and turbine. Roofs of houses are another place which is ideally suited for installing wind power turbines. Building your own wind turbine is not that a difficult process, if you were to follow instructions from a do it yourself wind turbine guide. You can find many such useful guides over the internet. These guides usually come with detailed step by step instructions which you need to follow in order to build wind power turbines.

You can easily find all the supplies needed for building your own windmill at a hardware store near you. This apart, you can even go one step further and make one from scrap materials. This way you would be doing even more good to the environment. For instance, you can always visit the local junkyard for some of the materials or parts that you will need to build wind power turbines. You can easily find PVC pipes in junkyards, which can be used for making the blades of the wind turbine. Something as simple as an old roller paint pan can be used to make the tail of the turbine. Being innovative is the key to building wind power turbines. This kind of an approach will also make the entire building process fun too.

There are plenty of online sources that can teach you how to build wind power turbines on your own. Visit Earth4Energy Review to find easy to follow instructions that can help you build one and drastically cut down on your energy bills.

The tough recessionary times has many people looking for ways to save money any way they can. One such way to do this is to try and make your own free electricity at home. I had heard many good things about wind power for home use, so I decided to look into this further. I was quite shocked at what I learned, and the good alternative. Here is what I found, in my opinion, are the three biggest myths to making your own wind turbine for home use.

Myth number one, home-made wind turbines are safe. At first glance these little wind mills seem harmless enough. But a closer look reveals potential danger! You see, to make these devices you need to attach blades to a hub, if you don’t make the connection just perfect, or use the wrong materials you have a potential missile on your hands. Let me explain. The dream of every wind farmer is steady high winds. That’s great, but high winds speeds put a tremendous amount of stress on the turbine blades. Over time these blades become stressed, and often times the material can start a small crack and eventually fail. You really have to know what you are doing to fabricate these devices properly. This job is best left to the professionals who will back their work and know by experience what they are doing. You don’t want a wind turbine blade shearing off in the middle of a storm and have it flying across the neighborhood.

Myth number two, home-made wind turbines generate a steady stream of electricity. I think this is self explanatory, but wind turbines will only produce electricity if the wind is blowing! There are very few regions in the United States that have a steady and reliable source of atmospheric wind. It seems like the wind is either not blowing enough (most of the time for me), or it is blowing too much and creating a dangerous condition for the turbine blades. There are very few days where I live when the wind is blowing at a steady pace and providing the energy I need for home use. These home-made wind turbines are simple, but not necessarily reliable.

Myth number three, wind power for home use is cost effective. You really have to take a hard look at the numbers to find out exactly how many wind turbines you will need to meet your energy requirements. I think in most cases, you need a small farm of these devices to make any significant amount of energy at all. The cost associated with this is usually in the tens of thousands of dollars. And, if you really put a pencil to this, you will see that your investment does not payout for twenty to thirty years. I don’t know about you, but if I had twenty five thousand dollars I could make more money investing in government bonds! So I really think the idea of wind energy for home use as an investment vehicle is a myth.

A better method of making free energy is building your own magnetic power generator. These devices do not have the risks and inefficiencies involved with wind turbines, and there are easy to follow guides available. You can easily make on with part and materials found at a hardware store, and you can make it in an afternoon. You can either supplement or replace you’re your power needs depending upon the size of the system you make.

You can make all the free energy you want with a home magnetic power generator.

Now you can generate free electricity with a simple and easy to use guide for making a magnetic power generator at home.
